The statute

Florida home education is F.S. 1002.41. State hub: FLDOE Home Education. Parent checklist: Parent resources.

FLDOE names three filings. Plain language from the 2024 statute page — not a substitute for the statute:

  • Written notice of intent, signed, with full legal names, addresses, and birthdates, filed with the district superintendent within 30 days of starting. No Florida teaching certificate required.
  • Portfolio: a log of educational activities made at the time of instruction, with titles of reading materials, plus samples. Keep it 2 years. Show it if the superintendent asks in writing, with 15 days’ notice.
  • Annual evaluation by one of five methods in the statute. File a copy with the superintendent. Written notice of termination within 30 days of ending, with that evaluation.

The Grade 1 year

Run it in Study. Crates follow Florida B.E.S.T. foundations on CPALMS. ELA.1.F.1.2 and ELA.1.F.1.3 put phonological awareness and phonics in first grade.
